RACE DESCRIPTION
The Steelman Duathlon is the only F1 style duathlon in the MidAtlantic area. The event takes place on a closed course with a view of the Baltimore Harbor and Chesapeake Bay during the bike portion of the event. With a multiple loop format the course is very spectator friendly and will produce some fast and exciting racing. With a minimum $2000 prize purse and separate elite wave, the best athletes from the East Coast will find their way to this event. This event will also be USAT sanctioned. There will be a separate high school division which will be used as a fund raiser for the athletes high school athletic departments
Run (2.0 Miles) Run Course (2 miles) - The course will begin at Stansbury Park in Dundalk. The run will loop around a closed portion of Peninsula Highway, turn right on Merritt Blvd, right on Moorgate Road and return to the transition area located in the park.
Bike (25 miles) Leave the transition area, turn left on Stansbury Rd, right on Chesterwood Rd and left onto the closed portion of Peninsula Highway. Follow to Bethlehem Boulevard and turn right. Follow to a turnaround point and retrace steps back to Chesterwood Road. Each bike leg will consist of two 6.5 mile loops. The turnaround point is at the Chesterwood Road - Peninsula Highway intersection. After two laps turn right onto Chesterwood, left onto Stansbury Road and return to the park.
SPECIAL NOTES: HIGH SCHOOL DIVISION
The High School race is open to all students who are currently enrolled or who graduated in June 2004 in a state or private high school. Each person entered must list their high school, age and date of birth. Students from different high schools may compete on the same relay. This is designed to be a fundraiser for your high school athletic department or team. Download the sponsor sheet and collect a certain amount of dollars per mile that you race (a total of 32 miles). Fill in all blanks on the sheet and turn into your athletic director. It is up to you to collect the money and turn into your school. Checks should be made out in the name of your school's athletic department. There will be separate awards for the high school division, including a special award for the school with the most entrants. All entrants must also purchase a one day license from USAT for $9.00 in order to race.

DIRECTIONS
Take Route 95 to Route 695 (Baltimore Beltway) and heads towards Essex. Take the Merritt Boulevard Exit No. 39 towards Dundalk. Follow Merritt Boulevard for 2.5 miles and make a U turn at Merritt Boulevard and Peninsula Highway. Turn right onto Kirkleigh Road and follow signs to the park. All parking on race day will be at the shopping center on Merritt Boulevard. Athletes and spectators will have to walk the 400 yards to the park. There is no parking on side streets near the race area.
RACE CHECK-IN
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT ALL ENTRANTS SUPPLY A WORKING EMAIL ADDRESS. RACE CHECK IN INFORMATION ALONG WITH RACE UPDATES AND PARKING INFO WILL ALL BE SENT VIA EMAIL ONLY!!
Saturday June 26 from 3PM-6PM at the park site\
Sunday June 27 from 5AM - 7:15AM at the main tent at the park site.
It is highly suggested that you pick up your packet on Saturday afternoon, due to the high number of athletes in this event.
Bike racking and chip distribution will be done on Sunday morning.

Overall Top 3 Male and Female.
Awards to Top 3 Male and Female in 24 and under (Younger athletes please look at high-shool division notes below), 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49. 50-55,60-64, 65-69, 70+

Prize Money: 1st - $300, 2nd - $225, 3rd - $175, 4th - $125, 5th - $100, 6th - $75 for Male and Female Overall
Elite Athletes will begin in the first wave. Checking the box for elite wave will make you ineligible for age group awards. Age group athletes finishing in the top six may still collect prize money

All athletes are guaranteed a colorful race shirt plus plenty of post race food and refreshments. Post race food courtesy of Cannella's Italian Deli, Bergers Cakes and Cookies, Bagel Bistro and more.

VERY IMPORTANT NOTES
NO ANIMALS WILL BE ALLOWED AT THE RACE SITE.
No drafting is allowed.
Helmets are mandatory during bike sections.
No headphones or baby strollers.
It is up to you to read the race application and all information on the website and understand all rules and regulations.
Race will proceed rain, snow or sunshine.
Race Director reserves the right to cancel or change event if weather conditions warrant.
No abuse of volunteers, police or others will be tolerated. Any abuse will lead to disqualification
Read the refund and transfer policy fully. There is no switching of events.
Returned checks will be charged a minimum $25 fee.
Athletes are responsible for reviewing course beforehand and for knowing all turns and hazards along the course.
Awards must be picked up at race. No mailing of awards.

REFUNDS
A 75% refund will be issued up to 30 days before the date of the event. A request for a refund must be done through the mail only. No email requests will be accepted. The request must be received 30 days before the day of the race. The refund will be issued in the form of a check one week after the date of the race. After the 30 day grace period there will be absolutely no refunds.
TRANSFERS
Athletes may transfer their entry to another athlete up to 30 days before the day of the event without penalty. The request for the transfer MUST be accompanied by the completed application of the athlete that the entry will be transferred to. The request will only be accepted through the mail. No email transfers will be accepted.
Athletes may transfer their entry to another athlete from 30 days before the event to 5 days before the event for an extra $10 fee. From 5 days before the race until race day - No transfers will be accepted.

RACE SWITCHING
Athletes may not switch an entry from one race to another during the course of the year.
VOLUNTEERS
Volunteering for an event will get you another event for free. To qualify, you must sign in at registration - for a duathlon (1 hour) or triathlon (1.5 hours) - before race start and remain until the site is clean. If you volunteer for a duathlon you will earn a free duathlon. If you volunteer for a triathlon you will earn a free triathlon.
Spectator/volunteers are always welcome and will receive a race shirt, post event food and our undying appreciation.
